Cultural standards dictate that attractive and fit people have natural advantages over those of us who lack those features. While all people possess, or have the ability to possess, inner beauty, others struggle with physical features such as weight or disease that impacts their appearance thus resulting in an unfortunate disadvantage in life. As business professionals, it is important to remember that professionalism must be immune to the physical features of our counterparts. Our guest today, Adella Pasos, a Model and Entrepreneur, spoke to this issue on the program today.
Adella is an American born model and has been modeling since 2006. With her bright smile and attractive look, she has melted the hearts of everyone to whom she has come in contact with. She holds an MBA and works with Startups, Small Businesses, Fortune 500 corporations and Entertainment Talent that recognize the value of marketing. She has helped hundreds reach their niche target market via online, social media, mobile, merchandising and events and not only has she been featured in many magazines and publications, but has also work with brands such as Jack Daniels, Harley Davidson, Mountain Dew, Heineken, Dub, ESPN, Samsung, Sony, and more.
Adella primarily attracts male clients she states in this segment which leads to a discussion on how she and other women battle the issue with beauty in a business environment. Social media has made it easy for people to see us both physically and emotionally which leads many men to reach out to women under the guise of a business relationship only to be “hit on” in meetings that were supposed to be business. Kelly has dealt with and spoken on this issue in past segments too and it presents a real challenge to many professional women who are seeking to grow their businesses. While there are no easy solutions to this, guidance offered centered around longer vetting periods before meeting and introducing a male counterpart, whether they exist or not, into the discussion as a possible developmental partner on the women’s behalf who would be at the meeting.
To be clear, beauty is not something anyone should have to apologize for or work against. Others will argue that attractive women should “dress down” to avoid these situations but that does not excuse the behavior of many men who find it acceptable to use business opportunities to look for dates. There are plenty of bars and dating sites to look for dates, business meetings are not that place. As business professionals, we owe it to each of us to engage with one another in fair and respectable fashion.
Adella shares with the listeners her passion for growing brands and speaks to us about how to launch a successful business online and some of the ways to automate your business through the use of tools such as Infusionsoft. She has released a new book series for entrepreneurs and has tips for startups at her website www.askadella.com including the top franchise list of 2017, how to get setup online just to name a few.
