Happy #WorkingWomenWednesday! Every Wednesday, we invite two wonderful guests from the Working Women of Tampa Bay Group, headed by Jessica Rivelli, its Founder and CEO. Today, we welcomed Brenda Steele-MacCrimmon and Carole Parish. Years ago, Brenda worked as a financial advisor/stock-broker, and often dreamed of being carried out of her office to some far-away land (de-stressing daydream). In 2006, the US Navy mobilized her as a reservist to full-time active-duty in Afghanistan. Be careful what you daydream about!! “Where’s the water,” she joked. She ended up in an Army boot-camp at age 40. Once in Afghanistan, Brenda met an amazing American woman who’d lived there for years. Betsy was helping Afghan women and refugee families with housing and emergency supplies, plus she was teaching Afghans how to economically sustain themselves by utilizing their embroidery talents to hand-make fashion and accessories for Westerners. Brenda is a “Jane of all traits, master of none,” who combined her past experiences as a financial advisor and a military officer to start Jo’el Worldwear. Now Jo’el Worldwear is reaching out to people everywhere, and Brenda’s daydreams about faraway places are really coming true!  Carol Parish is a successful marketing and brand strategy executive, who lives in Tampa, Florida. She recently retired from a career that spanned more than 35 years. Carol is also president of the Tampa Bay Florida Chapter of the EWGA, a national women’s golf association. EWGA is dedicated to helping women learn, play and enjoy golf for business and for fun. She has been a member for more than six years, also serving on the Chapter Board of Directors as Secretary and Events & Activities Director. Following on her passion for golf, Carol is now a regional representative for Equipt for Play, a woman-owned designer of golf shoes and accessories for women.
