Opening up the program today was Todd Magazine, President of Blink Fitness. This company is based in New York and is expanding into the Tampa Bay area with plans to open stores starting in 2017. Prior to joining Blink Fitness, Todd Magazine held senior leadership roles at venerable organizations such as Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, and Equinox (his current employer, for which he oversees start-up Blink Fitness). His varied experiences have afforded him many rewarding and challenging opportunities, including his current role as the chief growth driver for a fast growing new brand in a mature category – Blink Fitness. His previous roles have involved full-scale turnarounds, the reinvention of beloved consumer products, and the expansion of businesses within heavily competitive markets. Todd speaks of their model and how they are able to offer a “luxury” gym experience for under $20/month versus traditional outlets that charge more for similar offerings. They are in talks with franchisees, but opportunities are still open for discussion. Learn more about these opportunities at www.blinkfranchising.com and more on Blink at http://www.blinkfitness.com.
At 7:30, we welcomed Noah Pransky, Investigative Reporter at WTSP-TV. Since coming to 10News, he’s maintained the Shadow of the Stadium blog, which focuses on Florida sports business news and stadium campaigns. Noah has won four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for news and sports reporting, including a national recognition in 2013 for exposing safety issues on youth soccer fields. Noah has also been honored 8 times with Emmy Awards for Investigative Reporting. He and Jamie discussed the Ray’s stadium issue and Noah offers some insight into the current situation and feels that the best place suited for the Rays stadium will either be at its current location with a renovation to the area and a stadium re-build or in Pinellas County, citing resources available in Pinellas versus Hillsborough County. Noah and Jamie touch on the red light camera controversy too, an issue that he and Channel 10 have covered extensively and he offers up their email for people that have leads for them to investigate at firstname.lastname@example.org!
At 8:00, we launched TBBO Tuesday highlighting the organization and its members. The next TBBO event is Wednesday August 3rd at the Centre Club and is an interview with Leslie and Marvin Gay, the Founders of Painting with a Twist, just one of many great Main Events held each month by Tampa Bay Business Owners. We also have an event coming up on August 16th, a Double-Header Workshop called 7 Steps to Sales Success and Work From the Outside In. The first presentation is led by Patrick Leask, certified business coach with ActionCOACH, and will teach the science of persuasion and how the art of influence can be leveraged to supercharge your sales. The second presentation is “Work From the Outside In – A Growth Strategy For Your Business”. Scott Jungles, Senior Partner with Symplicity Designs, will teach you a unique way of looking at your business, from the outside in instead of the traditional inside out way. Non-members can buy tickets for $79 at this link http://www.tbbo.org/event-2299945?CalendarViewType=1&SelectedDate=8/2/2016 and members have “member pricing” available depending on their membership level. TBBO members can also take advantage of a new offering called “key connections” where members can sit down one on one with either Chris or Jamie as much as needed each month so they can help the member identify key connections to help grow their business. We also have a workshop on August 19th for members only called Business Improv which will focus on how to add comedy to your presentations. Many more events each month, these are just some of them!!
We highlighted members Tim and Tina Richardson today on the program. Tim, (Stage Name Tim J. Rich) is a Tampa Bay Area based entertainer, vocalist, musician, music director, producer, songwriter, recording artist & entrepreneur. Raised on the principles of Faith, Family, The Arts, Education & Ownership; Rich credits his relationship with God and his parents Eugene & JC Richardson for the multitude of gifts and talents which he continues to develop today. Tim was very musically active during his early years teaching himself to play the piano & sing. While attending high school, he developed a strong passion for Music Theory, Live Performance & Team building. This new development catapulted him into researching these very topics and June 2011, he and his wife started Tim J. Rich Music & Entertainment, a music entertainment company that offers DJ, Karaoke, and Live Music services throughout Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. The Richardson’s began booking weddings, corporate events & parties as DJ Tim J. Rich “The Singing DJ” and eventually gained consistent weekly nights as the primary DJ for various local venues. During this time Rich built an in-house studio where he fully produced 4 solo recording projects. In 2012 Rich was introduced to Live Band Entertainment while performing as a keyboardist & vocalist in a local band. This experience led him to form his own band and on December 31st, 2013 he performed for the first time with his new band LOTP which was received with great reviews. Since then the band has had over 600 performances & maintains a schedule of over 150+ bookings per year. Currently Tim J. Rich is focused on booking LOTP’s first national tour, developing local artist, & helping to build Tampa into an international music landmark.
