Opening up the program today was Jim Yeager of Yeager and Company. Jim and his company are General Contractors specializing in flooring as well as kitchen/bath remodels but can assist with all building needs. Jim is our latest Tampa Bay Business Owner’s sponsor and a third generation Owner of Yeager & Company. Started out of Philadelphia, their business is now an industry leader in the area. They come highly recommended with over 600 reviews on Angie’s List and have won the Super Service Award multiple times in multiple categories through Angie’s List. Jim opened the discussion with an announcement of the winners for a new floor contest they ran and talked about the winner and why he won. Jim explains how the big box retailers oftentimes offer an inferior product that while backed up by warranty, are often improperly installed. Jim had to fix one of these installs and he explains how the customer had lived with warped floors for a year due to a deficient install that was denied warranty coverage too. Jim and his company have a beautiful warehouse in Odessa located at 2310 Success Drive and they invite you up to explore all of the flooring options they have available. You can find them online at www.yeagerflooring.com too.
Alongside Jim today was Charlie the Plumber. Charlie is a past frequent guest that had been on a show hiatus but was back in studio today to light up the mic. Charlie, who is never at a loss for words, joined the #MorningDiscussion with some commentary on the Colin Kaepernick situation before plugging Jim Yeager and his business model. Charlie, who is a former pro wrestler and a Marine, is a frequent contributor to a number of radio shows in town too, albeit as an avid caller. He checks in with Jack Harris and Ted Webb on AM Tampa Bay many mornings too with political commentary and rants and loves to talk politics. He met up with our social media contact today and is about to launch his social media channels of which he currently has none, not to promote business, but to get involved in the political online discussions. Be sure to use #AmericanPlumber to agree or disagree with him online. Charlie never shys from the conversation either, we’ll update soon when he is online!

Wrapping up the program today was Christine Acosta, Founder of Pedal Power Promoters. Her vision is to make Tampa a world-class city for bicycle commuters. She founded Pedal Power Promoters in 2014 to spearhead bicycle-friendly initiatives through collaborative public and private partnerships.
Acosta works with key local, regional, and national cycling stakeholders in transportation, health, and urban planning. Her projects and committees include experts from the Tampa Downtown Partnership, Healthy St. Pete, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Department of Health, AARP, the MPO’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and the League of American Bicyclists.
The company creates and implements Bicycle Friendly Business(sm) Certification programs and provides professional bike valet services through its auxiliary company, Tampa Bike Valet, to serve and grow the area’s #PedalPopulation. In the two years since its launch, the woman-owned social enterprise has garnered regional and national prominence within the domain of Bicycle Friendly Business certification.
As enthusiastic as she is about cycling, Acosta was frustrated by her community’s poor safety record for bicyclists and pedestrians. The Pedestrian Danger Index rates Tampa Bay as the 2nd Worst In the nation. In 2015 she was on the founding board of non-profit Walk Bike Tampa. In 2016 she became its Executive Director. The group acted with urgency to ask for change when Lexi Miranda, 17, was hit and killed while crossing a major high-speed roadway to get to school. WBT pursued a Vision Zero Plan – “No loss of life on our roadways is acceptable” for Tampa. The Plan will serve as the platform for improving safety. Tampa’s City Council, Hillsborough County School Board, Hillsborough County Commission, and Metropolitan Planning Organization have passed resolutions in favor of Vision Zero.
