Kicking off today’s show was Todd Wilcox at 7am. Todd is a South Tampa native living in Orlando now and running for the US Senate on the Republican ticket this fall. He is not a career politician and this will be his first run in politics. He is an accomplished business leader having founded a Defense Contracting Company and served our Country honorably as an Infantry Officer in the US Army where he earned the rank of Green Beret and commanded a Special Forces A-team in East Asia. Following that, he joined the CIA, learned Arabic, and worked on assignments in the Middle East and North Africa.
Todd, like many Americans, is frustrated with career politicians, and wants to run the lawyers out of Washington. He, like I, feel that the Country is best served by having a leadership comprised of business professionals, with maybe a few lawyers in the mix lol. He has a 5 point plan to end career politicians by applying term limits which we discussed on the program and he feels that the Senate is the one place that someone can come into as an outsider and make an immediate difference. Todd’s passion for our Country resonates throughout this interview and he asks for your support in his election this fall. Visit http://www.toddwilcox2016.com for more information!
In the 8am hour, I was joined by co-Host Stella Giudicelli. Stella, a fellow Real Estate professional with Coldwell Banker is a frequent contributor to the program, whether its on air, or supply guests to the program. We spoke first with Matt Moskos, co-owner of The Smoke Shack, Tampa Bay’s premier barbeque destination. Located at 3324 W Gandy Blvd, Matt, along with two friends, grew the business out of a food truck to become a South Tampa favorite destination for barbeque. Offering many recipes from dry rub and homemade sauces, all meats are smoked fresh and with a smile. They cater as well and still go out on the Food Truck so reach out to them for your next barbecue event – get in touch with them at 813-748-1988 or visit http://www.smokeshack-bbq.com!
Wrapping up the #MorningDiscussion was Carlo del Castillo, General Manager and Vice President of Brighthouse in West Central Florida. Carlos was in studio though today not to discuss Brighthouse, but rather a scholarship fund he founded in honor of his son Dimitri del Castillo, who lost his life on June 25th, 2011 in Afghanistan in battle. His son gave his life to save the lives of others in his unit and died while calling in support and died with mic in hand. His son was a West Point Graduate and a star athlete with a love of Rugby. His short military life came with many honors and medals which included the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and Army Achievement Medal just to name a few. He was an Army Ranger and you the scholarship will benefits students of Army Rangers to assist with the costs of the education. More information on this scholarship can be found here – http://www.ranger.org/page-1263672 or you can learn more about the Rangers at http://www.ranger.org. Carlos honored Stella and I with both his poise and presence and gave us a Challenge Coin which honored his son. We thank Dimitri and the many other service men and women who have given their lives so that we may have our freedom!
