Happy #WorkingWomenWednesday! As the show has been running for quite a while now, we have had many guests come on the #MorningAir to discuss what it is they do and how they impact the community! However, our favorite day is Wednesday because we get to invite some amazing people from The Working Women of Tampa Bay on the show to be interviewed by out Host, Jamie Meloni! The Working Women of Tampa Bay networking group does some great work for women in the community, and they never cease to amaze us with their many members who each do great work and have great stories! Today from the group, we welcomed India Witte, Vice Chair of the Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women! We also welcomed Susan Leisner, Past Chair, and Current Member of the Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women as well! Coming on the show today first was Susan W Leisner, Past Chair, and Current Member of the Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women. With an extensive background of education, she eventually encountered discrimination firsthand in her workplace. Advocating for women’s pay equality, in the early seventies Ms. Leisner became the lead plaintiff in one of the first successful Title VII Class Actions against a major corporation when she filed suit against New York Telephone Company for sex discrimination (Leisner et al vs. New York Telephone Company). She is also the past president and founder of the Athena Society, a professional women’s group that promotes equality and opportunity for women. If you missed her amazing story over the triumph over discrimination, then head to http://www.tampabayradio.com now to listen to Susan W Leisner on the #MorningAir!
