Today’s show got fashionable as I, along with co-Host Stella Giudicelli, welcomed Patty Soltis and Elaine Sweeney to studio. Both are Managing Directors of STYLEdge Fashion, a consulting company they launched in January of this year that offers services including Executive Consultancy, wardrobe setup, closet transformation and many others centering around fashion. Patty has many years of experience in fashion, bringing with her years of experience with the likes of Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor and Marshall Fields. Her partner, Elaine, is a recognized fashion icon in the Tampa community and former news anchor appearing on Fox, NBC and ABC affiliates. Their goal is to help women of all sizes and styles feel confident in their appearance which equates to success. They also assist men in wardrobe guidance as well and speak on this during the show also.
Patty and Elaine share some tips on making first impressions and the importance of always being presentable on this segment as well as touch on some of the trends in fashion, both from a female and male perspective. They have also started the STYLEdge Syndicate, a local fashion club that will hold eight meetings a year but they stress they will not be “meetings” but rather fun events to share ideas and get advice on clothing, alterations, styles and much more. The cost is $200 to get involved in the group and to learn more, contact Patty and Elaine directly. You can learn more about them at http://www.styledgefashion.com and they are available via email at firstname.lastname@example.org / Elaine.email@example.com phone numbers are 813-362-9061 / 813-468-0424 as well.
My guest on the 2nd half of the show as John Harden, Principal Investor and Clinical Director of BoardPrep. BoardPrep is a behavioral health company specializing in safe and effective alternative treatments to addiction. John, who himself is a recovering addict, feels that addiction is the most vexing public health problem of our time and elaborates on this and the how his treatment therapies differ from traditional methods often used inside hospital and big box treatment facilities on this segment. John opens the segment with his personal story of addiction to alcohol and cocaine, becoming afflicted with the disease in his teenage years. After going through recovery at such as young age, John dedicated his life to its treatment and today has a stellar resume which includes being the first Executive Director of the UF Health Florida Recovery Center as well as serving as the Executive Director of the Florida Society of Addiction Medicine.
One of BoardPrep’s alternative therapies include outpatient services where patients can be treated at their homes and John discusses this approach to treatment on the segment as well as delves into some of the basics of addiction disease such as why some drugs cause addiction more rapidly and why some people are affected by addiction whereas others are not. John also touches on how the brain reacts to addictive substances and we discuss how food addiction affects the brain in the same ways as alcohol and drug addiction. BoardPrep’s facility is located at 2522 W Kennedy Blvd Tampa and you can call them at 813-600-7929 or 1-800-520-8475 to schedule a consultation which takes about 2 hours to discuss treatment if you or a loved one has the need. Today on #ThatBusinessShow, I spoke with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Florida President Clark Toole. Clark is a lifelong Real Estate Professional and started selling Real Estate in 1975 to pay his way through Graduate School where he obtained his MBA in Real Estate and Marketing. Clarks pathway to leadership grew from his role as a Realtor into Real Office Branch Management where he guided and trained many sales professionals eventually landing in his current role as State Leader for Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate.
As president of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, Clark Toole oversees the operations of Florida’s largest residential real estate company. With more than 85 offices and 5,100 sales associates, Coldwell Banker closed over $12.7 billion in Florida residential sales in 2014. Clark also acts as president of Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT in Florida, which offers five offices and more than 90 sales associates. Both are headquartered in Sarasota.
Clark earned a reputation for strong leadership and foresight during the recent economic downturn, when Florida’s residential and commercial real estate markets took one of the biggest hits in the country. As newspaper headlines focused on gloomy economic forecasts, Clark turned his attention to uncovering niche markets and buyer pools that were still capable of investing in Florida real estate, despite the lagging economy.
Clark shares some great stories on this segment including the story of his first home sale back in 1975 through his involvement with the Coldwell Banker acquisition of Arvida, which was the largest Real Estate acquisition in history. Clark also takes us through the changes in the Real Estate marketplace both from a buyer and a seller perspective since his entry into the business in 1975 and also takes about many of the challenges sales professionals face today and how they can work to set themselves apart from competition. This is a great piece on Real Estate and Christina Griffin, fellow top producing Coldwell Banker Real Estate Professional, joined me in the studio as co-host and adds some great commentary to the discussion.

My first guest today was Dr. Johanna Turner. Dr. Turner is a chiropractor and was in studio today to talk about her practice and dispel some of the common myths surrounding chiropractic treatment. Dr. Palmer is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been in practice for 4 years. Her current practice is based in Clearwater at the Hartley Chiropractic Center located at 2653 Ulmerton and she can be reached at 727-623-0992 to schedule an appointment.
The segment touches on some of the basics of chiropractic such as what chiropractic is and is not. Chiropractic treatment views the spinal cord and the central nervous system as the focal point of the body and that all diseases and disorders can be regulated or treated via adjustments by taking pressures off of nerves and opening up the pathways in the body. The industry has differing types of chiropractors, some that take a more holistic approach to treatment and others that focus more on the soothing and relief it provides to others. Dr. Turner talks about her approach to Chiropractic in this segment and also gives guidance on its use for children, and people that attempt to perform adjustments on their own. Dr. Turner is looking for new patients so please reach out to her at 727-623-0992 to schedule an appointment or consultation and learn more at http://www.elevationhealth.com/location/clearwater-chiropractor-theresa-hartley/
On the second half of the show, I welcomed Casey Ellison, CEO and Managing Partner with EWI Construction. This Tampa based development firm was founded in 2007 by Casey after his departure from Beck where he had worked for 13 years. Seeing a need in the marketplace for a mid-size developer, EWI was launched for that reason and to give his customers high quality construction services and standards. Since 2007, EWI Construction has been involved in countless developments including the restoration of the Oxford Exchange, BayCare Medical Facility and Whiskey Joes Barefoot Bar. EWI Construction won the Contractor of the Year Award in 2012 from AIA and their work on the Oxford Exchange earned them the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Award in 2013. Casey shares his views on the Tampa Bay area commercial market and is excited to be actively involved in many projects in the area. Learn more about Casey and EWI Construction at http://www.ewiconstruction.com and contact them at 813-964-3885 for more information on your next development!

My first guest on today’s show was Jeff Stanislow, Partner with National TravelDeals.Com. This Tampa based online travel agent currently offers rental car services on their site http://www.nationaltraveldeals.com and will soon be offering hotel and airline deals as well. Jeff is an online marketing specialist and has built two other Internet and Advertising agencies, most recently Chief Internet Marketer. He is an adjunct professor with Walsh College and teaches graduate level classes in interactive marketing. Jeff and I spoke of Uber and Lyft primarily in the first segment. With the announcement today that LAX is allowing these ride sharing programs to operate inside their airport, this was a topical discussion and is foreshadowing of what to expect in the transportation/tourism business. With reduced overhead, services like Uber and Lyft present a disruption in traditional taxi services and a challenge to industry regulators because of the complaints from taxi unions of increased costs due to taxes and regulatory fees versus consumers who like the convenience and lower costs of the ride sharing options. Some communities have banned the service altogether but many consumers are pushing back and the future of the service remains to be seen. Jeff also shared some top travel destinations and industry insights as well as what is on the horizon in the travel industry in this segment. Be sure to keep an eye on http://www.nationaltraveldeals.com for your next trip as the site develops and grows into a leading online travel agency! Jeff can be reached at 248-705-1320 or email@example.com for more information!
On the 2nd half of the show, I spoke with Matthew Easterly, President of Maximum Security Services. Matthew has over 16 years of security industry experience and decided to launch his own company after seeing the diminished quality of service that the larger big box providers were giving to consumers. Matt’s service offers local, instant access to the man in charge in the event of a problem and he talks about some of the problems that the larger security providers have in their business models on this segment. With the recent rash of break ins in the South Tampa community, security needs to be on the minds of all business owners. Matt speaks of the development of a new South Tampa business watch program being put together by the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce along with the Tampa Police Department on the show as well.
Matt also shares some great tips on this interview including what to look for in a security system provider and what is new and exciting in the industry. One of the more interesting developments in the industry include the introduction of facial recognition cameras that can now be added to security systems that can distinguish unknown occupants from known occupants inside your home or business also. Please contact Matthew Easterly for all your security needs and he will not tie you up in a long term contract like the larger providers do and his services are reasonably priced and you can reach him locally with a problem. Visit http://www.maxsecuritytampa.com for more information and call him today at 813-787-8686 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
