That Business Show Recap 04-15-2015 Featuring Jessica Rivelli, Alex Sink and Laura Schaffer

Today was Working Women Wednesdays on That Business Show, a weekly feature highlighted by Jessica Rivelli and two members of her networking group Working Women of Tampa Bay.  Learn more about this organization and their events and how to get involved at

Jessica opened the show at the top of the hour with a discussion on Equal Pay Day which is April 14th of each year.  This day represents the number in the year that women effectively are not paid up to compared to men when doing the same job.  The disparity between the sexes is 78 cents on the dollar and sparked quite a discussion on social media yesterday via the hashtags & #equalpayday and #ask4more.  Jessica speaks of the importance of women standing up for their worth on this first segment to overcome this inequality in the workforce.

On the 2nd segment, I spoke with Alex Sink.  Alex was Florida’s Chief Financial Officer from 2007-2011 and was on the show today to talk about her latest venture, The Florida Next Foundation.  This organization is geared towards giving entrepreneurs a path to get their message, product, or service out to potential investors and the Foundation does this through various Impact Forum Series that go on throughout the year throughout Florida.  We also spoke of Give Day Tampa Bay which is occurring May 5th and is 24 hours of giving and is part of The Florida Next Foundations annual events.  With just a minimum donation of $25, you are encouraged to give to one or more of many organizations through either your mobile device or website which is and in past years has raised millions of dollars for these organizations.  Please visit the site to learn more and visit for more information on the Florida Next Foundation.

On the 2nd half of the show, Laura Schaffer, Vice President and Banking Center Manager of C1Bank joined me in studio.  C1Bank is a partner in Give Day Tampa Bay and Laura was in studio to talk about their relationship with this fundraiser as well as their involvement within the community including The American Cancer Center’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, going on October 24 at the Amalie Arena.  C1Bank is a local bank with 31 locations and Laura stressed their entrepreneurial and bank next door type of atmosphere.  Customer service and accessibility rank as their top priorities and you can learn more about them at!
